Start to learn French, improve your language skills, or prepare for a trip to a French speaking country. The Alliance Française de Nashville offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes at its convenient Green Hills location.
French Classes
When: The Spring session begins April 12, 2010. Fall, Winter, and Spring ten-week sessions should be taken in sequence. Classes will meet on the same day or evening each semester.
French for Beginners: Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 14 through June 16. The Winter and Spring semesters are a continuation of the Fall, 2009 session.
French for Beginners, noon class: Wednesday noon from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 through June 16. This class will be the same as the Wednesday evening class.
French for Advanced Beginners: Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 12 through June 14. This class is for students with some previous French, not for absolute beginners.
Intermediate French: Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 13 through June 15. This class, conducted mainly in French, is for students who have a basic knowledge of the French language.
Advanced Conversation and Grammar: Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 15 through June 17. This class, conducted only in French, is for the advanced student who needs to practice speaking French and to improve his grammar.
Required text: Students are responsible for ordering their own texts through Amazon.com or their favorite book seller.
French for Beginners: “Ultimate French Beginning – Intermediate” by Annie Heminway. Living Language Series. Available with CD ($50) or as text only ($13). These classes will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring session.
French for Advanced Beginners: This class will use the same text as French for Beginners, but will start with the second half of the text.
Intermediate French: Main: “Ultimate French Advanced” by Annie Heminway. Living Language Series. Text only ($14). For reference: “The Ultimate French: Review and Practice” by Stillman and Gordon. Passport Books. This class will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring session.
Advanced Conversation and Grammar: This class will use the same text and reference material as Intermediate French but will start with the second half of the text.
Where: Alliance Française de Nashville Resource Center, 2000 Glen Echo Road, Suite 109, conveniently located next to the Green Hills Post Office.
How much:
Alliance members: $290.
