Start to learn French, improve your language skills, or prepare for a trip to a French speaking country.  The Alliance Française de Nashville offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes at its convenient Green Hills location.  

  

French Classes

    

When:   The Winter session begins January 9, 2012.  Fall, Winter, and Spring ten-week sessions should be taken in sequence.  Classes will meet on the same day or evening each semester.

  

  

French for Beginners: Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. January 11 through March 14.  The Spring semester, 2012, will be a continuation of the Fall, 2011 and Winter, 2012 sessions. Beginners are advised to start in the Fall.

  

French for Beginners, noon class: Not offered in Winter session.   

  

French for Advanced Beginners: Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  January 9 through March 12.  This class is for students with some previous French, not for absolute beginners.

  

Intermediate French: Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  January 12 through March 15. This class, conducted mainly in French, is for students who have a basic knowledge of the French language.

  

Advanced Conversation and Grammar: Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. January 10 through March 13.  This class, conducted only in French, is for the advanced student who needs to practice speaking French and to improve his grammar.

  

 

Required textStudents are responsible for ordering their own texts through Amazon.com or their favorite book seller. 

 

French for Beginners:  “Ultimate French Beginning – Intermediate” by Annie Heminway.  Living Language Series.  Available with CD or as text only.  These classes will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring session.

 

French for Advanced Beginners: This class will use the same text as French for Beginners, but will start with the second half of the text. 

 

Intermediate French: Main: “Ultimate French Advanced” by Annie Heminway.  Living Language Series.  Text only.  For reference: “The Ultimate French: Review and Practice” by Stillman and Gordon. Passport Books.  This class will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring session. Supplementary materials may be used in class.

 

Advanced Conversation and Grammar: This class will use the same text and reference material as Intermediate French but will start with the second half of the text. Supplementary materials may be used in class.


 

     

Where:   Alliance Française de Nashville Resource Center, 2000 Glen Echo Road, Suite 109, conveniently located next to the Green Hills Post Office.

 

How much:

 

Alliance members:  $290.

 

Non-members:  $290 + dues for Alliance membership for 2012.  If you are not currently a member, individual membership dues are $45 for 2012.  Please click here to view the membership options and application form.

 

 

The deadline for registration and payment of classes is January 3, 2012. Late registrations will be accepted only if space is available.
