Start to learn French, improve your language skills, or prepare for a trip to a French speaking country. The Alliance Française de Nashville offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes at its convenient Green Hills location.
When: The fall session begins September 8, 2014. Fall, Winter, and Spring ten-week sessions should be taken in sequence. Classes will meet on the same day or evening each semester.
French for Beginners: Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 8 through November 10. Winter and Spring 2015 sessions will be a continuation of material covered in the Fall 2014 session. Beginners are advised to start in the Fall.
French for Advanced Beginners: Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 10 through November 12. This class is for students with some previous French, not for absolute beginners.
Intermediate French: Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 11 through November 13. This class, conducted mainly in French, is for students who have a basic knowledge of the French language.
Advanced Conversation and Grammar: Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 9 through November 11. This class, conducted only in French, provides a wonderful opportunity for area francophones and advanced students to get together to share an evening of conversation, with a review of French grammar when needed.
Required text and Reference Materials: Students are responsible for ordering their own texts through Amazon.com or their favorite book seller.
French for Beginners: "Ultimate French - Beginning-Intermediate" by Annie Heminway. Living Language Series. Available with CD or text only. For reference: Schaum's Outline Series; French Grammar by Mary Crocker. This class will cover the first half of the text by the end of the spring semester. Supplementary materials may be used in class.
French for Advanced Beginners: This class will use the same text and reference materials as French for Beginners, but will start with the second half of the text. Supplementary materials may be used in class.
Intermediate French: Main: “Ultimate French Advanced” by Annie Heminway. Living Language Series. Text only. For reference: “The Ultimate French: Review and Practice” by Stillman and Gordon. Passport Books. This class will cover the first half of the text by the end of the spring session. Supplementary materials may be used in class.
Advanced Conversation and Grammar: This class will use the same text and reference material as Intermediate French but will start with the second half of the text. Supplementary materials including literature and poetry may also be studied in this class.

The deadline for registration and payment of classes is September 1, 2014. Late registrations will be accepted only if space is available.
There will be no refunds after the first week of class.
