Start to learn French, improve your language skills, or prepare for a trip to a French speaking country.  The Alliance Française de Nashville offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes at its convenient Green Hills location.  

  

French Classes

    

When:   The Fall session begins September 8, 2008.  Fall, Winter, and Spring ten week sessions should be taken in sequence.  Classes will meet on the same day or evening each semester.

  

  

French for Beginners: Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 10 through November 12.  All students who wish to learn French should enroll in the Fall semester.Winter and Spring semesters will be a continuation of previously learned materials.

  

French for Beginners, noon class: Wednesday noon from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. September 10 through November 12.  This class will be the same as the Wednesday evening class.   

  

French for Advanced Beginners: Monday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  September 8 through November 10.  This class is for students with some previous French, not for absolute beginners.

  

Intermediate French: Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  September 9 through November 11. This class, conducted mainly in French, is for students who have a basic knowledge of the French language.  

  

Advanced Conversation and Grammar: Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. September 11 through November 13.  This class, conducted only in French, is for the advanced student who needs to practice speaking French and to improve his grammar.  

  

 

Required textStudents are responsible for ordering their own texts through Amazon.com or their favorite book seller. 

 

French for Beginners:  “Ultimate French Beginning – Intermediate” by Annie Heminway.  Living Language Series.  Available with CD ($50) or as text only ($13).  These classes will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring session.

 

French for Advanced Beginners: This class will use the same text as French for Beginners, but will start with the second half of the text. 

 

Intermediate French: Main: “Ultimate French Advanced” by Annie Heminway.  Living Language Series.  Text only ($14).  For reference: “The Ultimate French: Review and Practice” by Stillman and Gordon. Passport Books.  This class will cover the first half of the text by the end of the Spring semester.

 

Advanced Conversation and Grammar: This class will use the same text and reference material as Intermediate French but will start with the second half of the text.


 

     

Where:   Alliance Française de Nashville Resource Center, 2000 Glen Echo Road, Suite 109, conveniently located next to the Green Hills Post Office.

 

How much:   $ 290 for Alliance members. If you are not currently a member, required membership dues are $45 for 2008.  Please click here to view the membership application form.

 

 







To register:  Please click here to view the registration form.  Class size is limited.  You may pay by check, written to the Alliance Française Cultural and Educational Fund.  You may also pay for tuition by credit card using PayPal.  It is not necessary to have a PayPal account, and your credit card information is not shared by PayPal with the Alliance Française.  Membership dues must be paid by check to the Alliance Française de Nashville.  No refunds are available after the first week of classes.
